The imitation gold foil is a brass alloy with a high copper content, in which the copper content is at least 72% and the zinc content is at most 28%.

 

The higher the zinc content, the higher the hardness of the alloy. The color will also become lighter, gradually turning from red to golden yellow, and finally pale yellow.

 

The application scope of imitation gold foil is mainly concentrated in the fine arts and crafts industry, decoration and hammer thin metal field. During the use of the deutschmark, the 5 - and 10-fen COINS were made of steel plated with imitation gold and copper.
